  • We will accept entries on the day in Clyde - but please try and enter early to decrease pressure on the organisers!

Start
The 2011 Rail Trail Classic event commences Sunday 25th September 2011 at Clyde Railhead.  Sign on from 6:30am
Rider briefing at 7:45am. All competitors must be present at race briefing. Start 8am.

The Ride
Covers the full length of the Central Otago Rail Trail, Clyde to Middlemarch, 152.17km or nearly 100 miles. We recommend teams transition at these locations:

Omakau - 35km           Oturehu Road Crossing - 75km        Tiroiti Tunnel - 119km

Sports drinks, Bananas & toilets will be available at these sponsored transition areas.

The DoC concession restricts our numbers to just 300 entries. Don’t delay

TEAMS: 2 - 4 members

-           Family (must have at least two school age people in team of 4) Can have family team of 2 with one being a school age

There is no reason why you can't enter!

Entry fees
Includes 3x Fuel stations of bananas and sports drink along with finishers Mug and BBQ Burger

-           Individual entry = $80
-           Team of 2 entry = $150
-           Team of 3 – 4 = $200
-           Sec School Team 2 – 4 members = $150
-           Family Team 4 or 2 members = $150

Late entry fee applies = $20 from 18th September but you can still enter up until and including race day if you wish.

Cut off times
A Closing Gate of 15kph will be applied from the Ride Start. If you do not meet the close off times at the transition points, you will be eliminated from the ride and you will be required to provide your own support. 

Clyde to Omakau 35km, Cut-off time 10:30am
Omakau to Wedderburn 40km, Cut-off time 12:30pm
Wedderburn to Ranfurly 14km, Cut-off time 2pm
Ranfurly to Hyde 32km, Cut-off time 4pm
Hyde to Middlemarch 27km, Cut-off time 6pm.

Cancellations

Withdrawals before 1st September FULL. Sept 1- 12th 50% refund. Sorry No Refunds from 12th September.

Finishers
Every Finisher receives a memorial 2011 RTC100 cup, except Late entries.                                

Results
Available Online 24hrs after the event.

Prizes
Drawn at the race briefing at the start line will be two competitor numbers each winning a mountain bike.  These will be available to ride on the start line if the prize winners wish to use them.

Numerous spot prizes available at the designated tent at the finish.  Take along your number to see if you have won.

Organized by Cyclists
The Rail Trail Classic 100 Adventure Ride is a Cycling Otago fundraising event. All proceeds go towards promoting cycling in coastal Otago.

Rules and course conditions
• The Rail Trail is a public facility and is not closed for the event.
• Competitors may encounter other users and must co-operate with them.
• Minimum entry age for an individual is 14 years.
• Minimum number of team members is 2 (maximum 4). The secondary schools teams must have 4 team members.
• Competitors must keep to the Rail Trail. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
• All solo riders and team leaders must sign a Waiver for themselves and or team members. Full payment must be made with the entry form for the entry to be valid.
• The ride number must be attached as issued and passed on at transitions. They must not be altered and must be clearly visible during the ride.
• Only competitors wearing official ride numbers will be recorded at the finish.
• No roads will be closed.
• Marshals will be located at each SH85 and 87 crossing, competitors must adhere to their directions. Motorists have right of way at all times.
• Competitors must dismount fully and push bicycles across crossings and Failure to do so will result in instant disqualification.
• There are a number of roads which will not have Marshals on duty. Normal road rules prevail — motorists have right of way at all times.
• Beware of wandering stock on the trail.
• Helmet, polyprop and wind jacket are compulsory.
• No passing on bridges.
• A torch is recommended for sections with tunnels.
• In the event of a rider having an accident you must stop to assist, then tell the first Marshall or First Aid Unit you get to.
