{"id":1707,"date":"2018-05-04T14:20:16","date_gmt":"2018-05-04T02:20:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cyclingotago.co.nz\/?p=1707"},"modified":"2018-05-04T14:20:16","modified_gmt":"2018-05-04T02:20:16","slug":"potential-changes-to-nz-cycling-centre-and-club-infrastructure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cyclingotago.co.nz\/?p=1707","title":{"rendered":"POTENTIAL CHANGES TO NZ CYCLING CENTRE AND CLUB INFRASTRUCTURE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Cycling New Zealand AGM and Conference weekend is on May 19<sup>th<\/sup>-20<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>The CNZ Road and Track Committee have shared the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cyclingotago.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/CNZRT-Centres-Presentation-2018.pdf\">CNZR&amp;T Centres Presentation 2018<\/a><\/strong> ahead of discussion at the Conference. Note, the potential for Cycling Otago (Centre &amp; Club) to be amalgamated into a \u201cSouthern South Island\u201d Centre run out of Invercargill.<\/p>\n<p>There are no details yet about how a potential change would affect the day to day operations, strategic aims, or autonomy of Cycling Otago \u2013 and whether it would ultimately advantage or disadvantage our members &#8211; we hope to gain more information soon.<\/p>\n<p>Several thoughts immediately come to mind:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The driver seems to be a narrow focus on High Performance outcomes versus growing the sport at the grass roots across all age groups and interests &#8211; which is what our Centre and Club seeks to do while also supporting riders\u2019 progression within the sport.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The potential impact on funding availability at the Centre level once organisations start spanning the geographical boundaries of the different community funders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please feedback any queries or comments you have to: <a href=\"mailto:admin@cyclingotago.co.nz\">admin@cyclingotago.co.nz<\/a> so we can take an informed Cycling Otago view to the CNZ AGM and Conference.
